Memorial Day Parade in Highland NY

Towns in Ulster County stand out with a great spirit of community. Highland, NY exhibits this sense of community and thus is a great place to live and to own a home. Highland celebrated Memorial Day with a great small-town parade that had excellent participation from lots of groups. Highland has a lot of great things on the horizon, including the extension of the Hudson Valley Rail Trail and the Walkway Over the Hudson initiative which seeks to renovate the Highland-Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge and make it a pedestrian walkway over the Hudson River.

Kingston NY / Ulster County Metro Median Home Price Down in 1st Quarter

The National Association of Realtors is reporting that the median home price in the Kingston, NY/ Ulster County Metro area decreased by 4.3% when comparing the 1st Quarter stats of 2008 to 2007. That decline is moderate compared with several Metros across the country that experienced very steep drops.

Decline in Ulster County Homes Sold in April

Statistics again revealed that the Ulster County Real Estate market is not as robust as it was last year. The number of homes sold in Ulster County during April 2008 decreased 38.5% from April of 2007. 72 homes were sold in April of this year. The median price for April 2008 was $248, 950, only a 1.4% decrease from last year. So while the sales volume is down, sales prices haven’t decreased in a similar manner.

Ulster County Gets High Grade for Clean Air

The American Lung Association awarded an ‘A’ grade to Ulster County for ozone levels on its annual report. Ulster County was one of only 8 counties in New York State that received an A. Ulster County is not only a beautiful place to live, but it is also a healthy one with an environmentally conscious and educated population.
