New Foreclosure Service for Ulster County

A new housing counseling program has been created to help Hudson Valley homeowners stave off foreclosure. The program is aptly called Hudson Valley Foreclosure Prevention Services and has received about $1 million in funding from the state and other foundations.

RUPCO is non-profit organization in Ulster County that will provide backing for the new organization as well as Hudson River Housing in Dutchess County. Offices for the new organization will be located in Kingston and Poughkeepsie. Counseling is offered free of charge.

Ulster County Homeowner Counseling Organization Recieves Grant

Rural Ulster Preservation Company, a nonprofit organization that helps first-time homebuyers and distressed homeowners, will receive a $77,000 federal grant from HUD to continue to offer services to Ulster County residents. RUPCO offers a wide array of homebuyer assistance and programs and counsels homeowners who are in default or facing foreclosure. Anyone considering buying their first home in Ulster County should investigate the programs they have to offer such as closing cost matching programs through local banks.
